Cell Phone free
Last night, Stephenie, Amelia, and I, had a good discussion, which focused and started with a question regarding the high school trying to go smartphone-free. The commentary, observations, and insights seemed to lean towards the fact that with or without cell phones, students will or will not engage in the lessons.
Will the friction and energy around removing cell phones from the school be offset in the classroom while learning is going on to make it worthwhile? Or would it be more productive to engage our teachers in developing an engaging learning experience for the multitudes? As Amelia pointed out? It's not always the technology that drives behavior but more often maybe the learning experience that the educator develops for the student that sets that tone, and either engages one in the learning process or leaves them waiting on the sidelines of the classroom.
